About Us?
We are the first Hotel in Querétaro since 1825, the hotel has a great history and we continue to preserve its beautiful Colonial architecture. We are located in the heart of the Historic Center, half a block from the city’s main square.
OUR HISTORY
This beautiful house with wide Tuscan columns and its beautiful patio in the center was destined to serve as a hotel in 1825, being the first hotel in the state of Querétaro, founded by Doña Manuela Gómez. Since then it has been a fundamental part of the city and the scene of great episodes in the history of Querétaro. Very interesting was the stay of the eccentric General Antonio López de Santa Anna.
For warlike reasons, he visited the city in 1844, the refinement of the hotel being what captivated him to make it his favorite choice. At that time, officials stayed at the Hotel while the powers of the Republic resided in the city. His stay culminated in the infamous signing of the “Treaty of Guadalupe” in which more than half of Mexico’s territory is ceded to the United States.
Around 1879 Ángela Peralta “The Mexican Nightingale” adorned the Hotel with her presence, then renamed “the best and most modern in the Bajío”. In 1880, the first stagecoach service was created and by 1917, the hotel was home to several eminent figures of the Constituent Congress, who created the Constitution that currently governs us. Relentless time will see in the future the transmutation of the hotel and the passing of the guests who, like you, are part of our history.
